A terrific print campaign for the SS 2010 season of Fila Japan. The Italian brand has a longstanding reputation for stylish, respectfully irreverent and what is now iconic sportswear. If you weren’t around in the brand’s heyday of the 1970′s, then you’ll surely recall it’s revival in 1990′s hip hop and then the acid house music scenes.
In this 2010 print campaign, sparse glamour shots on white are adorned with lavish pen and ink doodling. The result is reminiscent of the comic books and pop art of the brand’s glory days. It shows a lovely balance between raw and polish. The illustration is meticulously carried out, but with no compromise to the energy and immediacy that is so irresistible. If I saw this in a Fila store, I would rip it down and take it home with me.
This is the handiwork of Barcelona Based illustrator, Alex Trochut. Check out the rest of this campaign here. And the great news is you can buy his illustrations on his website.
